  1. Parenting Beyond Punishment Parent Support Group – Amy Bryant, EdS, LPC therapist and  and Ashley Kagan, Med MECD, child development expert support parents in peaceful parenting.
  2. Collaborative Problem Solving  – Dr. Ross Greene, author of “The Explosive Child” helps parents find better ways to work with difficult, oppositional children. Parents can join a closed facebook group of peaceful parents, called The B Team to find support for implementing collaborative problem solving.
  3. Hand in Hand Parenting Group  – A parenting group provided by Hand in Hand Parenting. Learn more, connect with resources and other like-minded parents. We support parents when parenting gets hard!
  4. Conscious Parenting Time  – Yolanda Williams and Crystal Stampley created a safe place for African American parents (only please!) to ask questions, seek advice, and share wins or frustrations. Conscious parenting asks us to explore our own triggers, mindset, and childhood, as well as to understand age-appropriate behaviors and mental capabilities of our children.
  5. Latina Parents Practicing NonViolence – Leslie Hillenbrand created an inclusive space for self-identifying Latinx parents and caregivers to gain community around nonviolent, conscious parenting practices and connect with like-minded people seeking to break intergenerational cycles of trauma and oppression for our Latinx or bicultural children.  While there is an abundance of information available on positive parenting, our goal for this group and the spaces we, the co-founders of Latinx Parenting, hold is to provide these resources in a way that is consumable and relatable for the culture. This is a safe place for Latinx parents to ask questions, seek advice, and share celebrations and challenges. Parenting with nonviolence asks us to engage in reflection on our childhoods without shame, challenge our assumptions and thoughts about children, and understand brain development and historical and social impacts on our parenting.

What Works Better than Hitting?

Peaceful parenting is more effective. Peaceful parenting 1) keeps your long-term goals in mind, 2) emphasizes warmth and structure, and 3) considers how children think and feel.

Peaceful Parenting Webinar Series

Peaceful parenting is sometimes called gentle parenting, positive parenting, positive discipline or attachment parenting. The main theme of all these approaches is focusing on the health of the relationship between the child and the parent, and supporting the child’s developmental needs. Joan Durrant, PhD developed a peaceful parenting program called “positive discipline in everyday parenting.” Join our discussion panel of parenting specialists to discuss her book!  The book is free online.
